The largest wind Turbines are being built in South Taranaki (New Zealand) The turbines have appeared between Waverley and Patea at the Waipipi Wind Farm. It is very unusual for New Zealand to have their wind turbines built on a flat coastal land.
The new farm is installing 31 new turbines. Each turbine stands 160m tall with a 130m diameter rotor. The farm will begin generating electricity later this year.
