Some good news has just been confirmed though and that good news is, 22 people have recovered and 6 people are in hospital. 3 in Wellington, 1 in Roturua and 2 in Waikato. Jacinda Ardern says"Be Kind, Be Calm, Break The Chain''

How many cases of COVID 19 in New Zealand?
50 new cases has just been confirmed and that is why there is now 205 cases but it can change every day so remember to keep updated every day so you know what is happening in New Zealand. Also for more information go and checkout covid19.govt.nz . I will leave the link for  covid19.govt.nz  down below.

Will This Help Stop The Spread?
Jacinda Ardern says "what you do now will affect us all" so I think she means  is to always be careful because you do not want to be the reason why someone else had caught the virus.  Stay home, save lives. This big impact or action will save lives for everyone who lives in NZ. Also schools will officially be closed today. Another thing just to add on, if you keep yourself safe you keep everyone safe.

Instructions you must follow to keep safe
physical distancing of 2 meters when outside of your home
You must only be in physical contact with the people you live with
you must stay home
where you stay tonight is where you stay from now on
wash hands
keep away from germs
do not make physical contact with elderly people or anyone

NZ In Lockdown

On Monday the 23rd of March the Prime Minister had made a huge announcement to  New Zealand.
She said " All schools, Restaurants, and universities  will be closed due to the COVID 19 outbreak.  Jacinda Ardern had given NZ traumatic news about the Coronavirus. NZ now has 155 cases of COVID 19. New Zealand's Coronavirus alert level has now been escalated to level 3, alert level 3 requires all public venues to shut down.

Why is the Prime Minister putting New Zealand in lock down?
The prime minister is doing this because she does not want the virus to spread in NZ. She is very concerned and is trying her best to keep everyone in NZ safe from this deadly virus. If we stay in our homes we can stop the virus from spreading. This lock down will only last 4 weeks then we can all go back to our normal routine but will still need to keep safe under any circumstances.

Supermarkets, doctors, pharmacies, service stations, hospitals and access to essential banking services will be available throughout New Zealand at every alert level.

175 Years Since Hone Heke Cut Down The Flagpole

Last week there had been a special ceremony to mark the 175th year when Hone Heke had cut down the Flagpole. This ceremony was held in the far north of New Zealand. It was the falling of the flagstaff at Kororareka. In the year 1845 the Ngapuhi chiefs Hone Heke and Te Ruki Kawati joined Forces to make the ultimate team so they could cut down the British empires flagpole. The action of these 2 chiefs is what started the "flagstaff war".
This commemoration was a reminder to the people of New Zealand to hold onto their rangatiratanga.

Tech!!!!!!!!

This afternoon we had the m- bots. Last week we had learnt a lot about movement, so Mr. Swinton decided that we should practice more so we can get the hang of it. We went on our drive and went looking into our folders for the "Lets get moving" folder. Then we went on M-Block online and started doing our work. Alamoni, Nurul, Diego, Kara,Richie, Hone and I were siting at the same table, we had to do some warm ups before we could put in the instructions on the slide first.
After a while of work it was time for us to head back to school but first Lily from St Pius school  did the roll because Mr. Swinton forgot to do it.

Taking Action!

Last week Friday Room 1 and Room 7 had a special guest. It was Frazer! He was the man that took us to Hamlin's hill. Today we had got to look at the traps that can kill and catch the pests around our area. We also got a little bag of traps that we could take home and experiment on. Frazer had also given us a footprint tunnel.

After having the introduction in Room 1 we then got ready to head out to the back of the school and set out traps. We saw a moth plant on the way down so we got the people with the gloves to pick it off. Everyone had a job to do, I had the job of hammering the nail into the tree. Once we had finished putting the traps out me and a few others helped Frazer carry his things to his vehicle.
