COVID 19: Using Blood Infusions To Help Find A Cure

Blood Infusion Definition
Scientist have been working very hard to find a cure for the Coronavirus. They have been working on a really genius idea that could work but at the same time could go very wrong, they have been working on blood infusions. Hospitals around the United States and caregivers are using a century year old convalescent plasma therapy treatment — siphoning blood from survivors and re infusing it into the sick. That just means the nurse or doctor will draw out blood from the recovered patient and test it out with the right mixture of medicine until they have the perfect cure, then they will infuse it into the sick person.
“I think of it as a bridge, until we can develop a vaccine or pharmaceutical treatment that can be shown to be safe, effective, and can be produced in mass quantities” says Elliott Bennett-Guerrero, who is studying the use of this convalescent plasma in COVID-19 patients at Stony Brook Medicine.

  1. I always thought the blood from recovered patients would be used for a vaccine. How long do you think this will take to get a vaccine? Do you think it is going to work?
