Earthworms

Yesterday at tech we studied earthworms. We learned that 27 species of worms live in the UK. We also learned that a football field could have up to 2 million worms underneath the players feet.
The Clitellium is kind of like a pouch for the maturing eggs to finally hatch.

NZ Election 2020

The New Zealand 2020 elections will be held on the 17th of October on a Saturday, but early voting will start on the 3rd of October. It is very crucial because the election is very close and New Zealand needs the  right person to lead this country. If you are 16 and over you would need to put your vote in because every vote counts. If you had been watching first leaders last night on your TV then you would see the prime minister and Judith Collins going head to head.

Taranaki For The Win

Taranaki have won the Ranfurly Shield a few days ago in Christchurch. The amber's and all blacks have beaten Canterbury 23-22 in the shield matches not to long ago. The All blacks fullback, Jordie Barrett was one of the many stars kicking the match-winning goal. On the night of the games Taranaki played superbly on the field in the first half.

However, Canterbury snatched 3 questioning goals in the 2nd half of the game. Taranaki will go up against Otago in their seventh Ranfurly shield reign.

Plastic

Today at tech we learned more about plastic and how it can destroy the environment. We had to bring reusable plastic containers, bottles and cups to the class today for the activity we had to do.

I had some much fun today doing this activity because had to put each item into the correct group. It was like solving puzzles.

Being A Scientist

Today in Mrs . Sharma's class we learned new words that relate to the science we do at school and in tech. We extended our scientific vocabulary and did some activities. We learned about biology, physics and chemistry.

We also learned about the equipment in the lab. I really enjoyed myself today in science. Since the year 7s and 8s are learning about genomes, we understood what Mrs . Sharma was saying.

Artificial Reef Being Made In Marlborough Sounds

Marlborough sounds are creating an artificial reef that can change the world.

This weeks boatload of mussel shells was dropped off at Marlborough's shore. The idea is to create a reef that will help revive marine life and a multi million-dollar industry. 12 tonnes of mussel shells were also dropped off at Pelorus Sound/Te Hoiere. The idea is to restore the mussel beds that was wiped out by over fishing for the past 50 years. The reefs would be monitored regularly and people will also do some research on the reef for scientific study.
